Pressing on

“I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:14

I was talking to a friend this morning who is getting her daughters ready to start school on Wednesday. She said, “They are getting ready to lose their freedom and I’m getting ready to gain mine.”

A twinge of jealousy ran through my heart and mind, but only for a moment. Oh how I would LOVE 5 days/week from 9-3 to myself-just think of the things I could accomplish!!

But wait. For what? For whom? I love home schooling, I just haven’t done it full force for the last three months so I’m nervous. In fact, my friend said it so well I must link to her post here. No reason to repeat what’s already been said so beautifully.

p.s. can you tell we have the same tastes in blog backgrounds? I thought I was on mine for a minute : )

We are mourning yet another loved one who has left this world. That’s four so far this year-in case you’ve lost count. These last two came so quickly that I am having a hard time getting our mourning attire ready to honor my Aunt on Friday. Maybe she’d rather us wear our bright, summery dresses. I think she just might.

Auntie Barbara lived a very full life. She loved my girls and me and supported me in all of my choices. For that I am brought to tears and will be remembering her for a lifetime. The girls loved her, too. I’m blessed to have so much family so close.

I’d much rather curl up into a ball, cry and cry and then hope when I come out everything is all better. But the world continues on and so must I-which is why I posted that verse at the top. Here it is again:

“I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:14

Thanks Paul, for the reminder.

    Lori,
Know how very difficult these days must be. Here is a prayer breathed by a dear friend who is going through some difficult times as her father is in the hospital. She expressed her feelings so well that I wanted to share them with you:

Father God, you know how frightening the future can be, with unexpected twists and turns in the road of life. Help us remember that you ordain the days of our lives. You assign each stage of the journey, but you walk the path with us, amen.

“Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday, and all is well.”

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him, and he will make your paths straight”
    Proverbs 3:5

Love you and are praying for you and your precious family.
