More Important Things to Talk About

to feb. 6 2014 040

I really don’t want to write about how terribly we played on Sunday. I do not want to talk about how great lucky the Seahawks were. So I’m not. But I must add that my spell check doesn’t even recognize the word “Seahawks” which just proves my point even more. There are way more important things to talk about. Like raising children, feeding farm animals in “negative ridiculous” temperatures and books I’ve reading (ha!) I haven’t been reading anything-well, unless you count audio CDs and books I’ve read to the girls.

I thought I’d post some pictures of the farm (and a balloon craft we are working on-thanks Penny for the idea!). I’ll let you know how it turns out.

In the meantime-I’ve been raising my self-esteem by reading this blog: http://pinterestfail.com/  (hope the aforementioned balloon craft doesn’t end up on there!)

Some photos: I took these when the windchill was -32. The sacrifices I make for you, my loyal blog readers! ; ) It felt like an ice cream headache for my entire body standing out there…a full-body brain freeze! You can take the girl out of southern, warm, beachy, California…but you can’t take the California out of the girl.

How does the horse keep warm? Does he stay outside all the time? This is the city girl talk’in!!! Beautiful pictures! What are the girl’s predictions about what will happen to the balloons?

    • The horse has a blanket that straps on-four different straps-two under his belly and two behind his well, behind. When it’s this cold he also has another fleece blanket that goes under the main blanket-it stays on the same way. I am pretty amazed at how resilient the animals all are! The only ones that have a heat lamp are the chickens. I’ll ask the girls…good idea! : )

Looks beautiful! With the sun shining its so hard to believe its so cold outside. It fools me every time I think about stepping outside for a minute! But -32 degrees is wrong!!
